We played in the Semi Finals of our Corporate 20/20 Cricket League yesterday against a side called the Proteas. We had played them once before, a game that we should have won easily, but then threw away after some indifferent batting.
We had some great support from friends and family and started well, scoring an acceptable 115 after our alloted 20 overs. We had aimed for 120 originally, but should really have scored upwards of 130 given the great start provided by our top order.
Proteas run chase started slowly and was halted by frequent wickets. After 19 overs they required 8 runs, off 6 balls with 1 wicket in hand, always a recipe for a nail biter. Our opening bowler had the honour of bowling this last over and was unlucky to have the third ball squeezed away off a mishit for 4. With the scores tied, the Proteas narrowly avoided a run out to win the game by 1 wicket.
All in all it was a great league to be involved in and our team improved in leaps and bounds each game. Looking forward to what we can do in the next one!
